On September 30, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker will return to our screens as the wicked Sanderson sisters in the highly-anticipated sequel film, Hocus Pocus 2. The witches are back from the dead and ready to once again suck the lives out of the children of Salem. In addition to the original sisters, Doug Jones will also return to the role of Billy Butcherson. While the original Hocus Pocus film focused on the Sanderson sisters as the main villains, there were two more who loved to torture Max Dennison — Jay and Ernie, excuse me, Ice.

Unfortunately, we have learned that Jay and Ice will not be in Hocus Pocus 2. Entertainment Weekly spoke to both of the actors, who said that their agents had tried to get them into the sequel film, but no auditions were given, and no roles were offered. Per Entertainment Weekly:

Actors Larry Bagby and Tobias Jelinek — who portrayed the fan-favorite high school bullies in Disney’s 1993 original — exclusively tell EW that they weren’t invited to reprise their parts in the upcoming sequel.

“Unfortunately, I am not a part of it,” Bagby says, though he recalls his manager submitting him for a small role as the owner of the Salem Magic Shoppe, which can be seen operating out of the former Sanderson house in the first teaser trailer. “I never got an audition for that,” he says. “But that would’ve been clever, even me just playing a cop or something.”

“Jay and Ice will not be in Hocus Pocus 2,” Jelinek adds in a separate phone call, going on to reference Disney’s anniversary special that premiered in 2018. “The 25-year bash, that really felt like Hocus Pocus 2, because we had Kenny Ortega directing, and it was the first time the original producers and all the kids were there…. even though we’re not in Hocus Pocus 2, it felt like we got to have our reunion on TV.”

At this time, we also know that none of the original children from the first film will be returning for Hocus Pocus 2. According to reports, a role had been crafted for Thora Birch — who played Dani Dennison in Hocus Pocus — but, due to scheduling conflicts, she was not able to appear in the movie. Entertainment Weekly has also confirmed that Thackery Binx will not be returning for the sequel. Fans had been speculating when a black cat was seen in the Hocus Pocus 2 teaser trailer, but that rumor was quickly put to bed.

Hocus Pocus 2 will premiere on Disney+ on September 30 and will be available to all subscribers, without Premier Access. The original Hocus Pocus is also currently available to stream on Disney+.
