Two popular activities at EPCOT are closing soon after we just got them back! EPCOT Seas Adventures – Dolphins in Depth and DiveQuest will be closing again on January 13, 2023. The tours, which only returned from their pandemic related closures last month, will be going down for a multi-month refurbishment.
Both DiveQuest and Dolphins in Depth are scheduled to be down until mid-March. These are specially ticketed activities (meaning, not included with your admission) at SeaBase in EPCOT’s Future World. So far neither SeaBase or The Seas With Nemo and Friends are scheduled to go down for refurbishment during this time frame.
Disney has not given any clear information about what refurbishments are being done or why they weren’t done in the two years the tours were on hiatus. It is possible that there are unforeseen issues that resulted from the closure that were unknown until the tours resumed. We will keep you updated on any developments that come about during the long refurbishment. These are some of the most unique and exciting activities at EPCOT so we are sad to see them go away again so soon.
In case you’re unfamiliar with these offerings, SeaBase is an aquarium located within EPCOT. You’ll find it at the end of The Seas With Nemo and Friends ride (though there is a back door guests can use to enter this area directly without going on the ride first if you wish). Inside SeaBase is a 5.7-million-gallon saltwater environment. It is actually one of the largest indoor saltwater tanks in the world! DiveQuest gives an opportunity for SCUBA certified divers to dive in the calm waters of the tank which guarantees an up close and personal look with the incredibly diverse marine life inside the tank.
Those guests who aren’t SCUBA certified aren’t left out of the aquatic fun! During “Dolphins in Depth” you’ll get the chance to meet the fun-loving dolphins of EPCOT up close and learn about these lovable sea mammals first hand from EPCOT’s expert trainers and handlers. Best part? You’ll spend 30 minutes of this 2 hour experience actually in the water with these amazing creatures!
We can’t wait for these experiences to come back in March. Reservations are still available between now and mid-January when they will go dark for refurb. To make a reservation for DiveQuest, click here, for Dolphins in Depth, click here.
