It’s an excellent day for Disney food lovers! Not only is Akershus coming back, but Tusker House and Kona Cafe also are experiencing exciting changes! All three restaurants are extremely popular, and we are so excited to share their most recent updates with you! Beginning in November, eating your way around Walt Disney World will get a lot more exciting! While Akershus is finally making its long-awaited return, Tusker House and Kona Cafe both reopened some time ago but are experiencing massive transformations.
Beginning November 1, 2022, we can finally say goodbye to the underwhelming family-style meal at Tusker House because their beloved buffet will finally return! We love the buffet because it allows the more adventurous eaters among us the opportunity to walk on the wild side while the more reserved pallets in our group can indulge in familiar favorites. This trek into the African Savanna not only has adventurous eats, but Donald Duck and the gang also join you on your culinary safari! What is better than characters and food? We can’t think of many things. For breakfast, you’ll find mouthwatering dishes like Zebra Coffee Cake, breakfast classics like Simba Waffles and Mickey Waffles, and a variety of breakfast meats. Lunch and dinner decidedly more daring fare with African flavors like Tandoori Chicken, Green Curry Shrimp, and plant-based options, including the Cauliflower Bunny Chow!
Also, beginning November 1, 2022, Kona Cafe will soon return from its recent refurbishment! This delightful Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been closed since June undergoing a transformation to keep the interior fresh and modern. The restaurant is open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner but is most popular at Breakfast where they serve up their famous Tonga Toast! This is also where you’ll find fan-favorites Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes and POG juice! Their Kona coffee is also a must-try!
Both Tusker House and Kona Cafe are available for Advanced Dining Reservations now (and we would highly recommend that you make reservations if you plan to dine at either location). For the full story on Akershus, including booking and reopening dates and pricing, click here.
