Walt Disney World is decidedly NOT the place to begin a diet. There are so many amazing bakery treats to enjoy there is no time for counting calories. Plus, I’ve heard calories don’t exist at WDW! Seriously, I figure with the miles of walking I do on a Disney vacation I can afford to cater to my sweet tooth every now and then. While you can find baked goods at most locations at Walt Disney World, I have compiled a list of my Top 6 Favorite Bakeries and the treat I love to visit there to eat.
6. Big Top Treats, Mickey Macaroon
Big Top Treats makes my list more for the atmosphere and them of the area than the baked goods. Don’t get me wrong, they are very tasty, but the details of the big top are really outstanding here. Several fun things are offered here including specialty cupcakes (Dumbo cupcake) and Mickey Shortbread cookies with red shorts, but my pick for the favorite are the adorable Mickey Macaroons.
5. Sunshine Seasons, Strawberry Shortcake
While not a full-fledged, free-standing bakery, the bakery counter at Sunshine Seasons offers some seriously tempting sweets. My favorite item here is hands-down the Strawberry Shortcake. In fact I will come to Sunshine Seasons just for it! Layers of sponge cake, cream and strawberries—it is light and refreshing so it doesn’t weigh you down on a hot Florida day, but sweet enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. Yum!
4. The Boardwalk Bakery, Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie
The Boardwalk Bakery is a nice break from the parks (located at the Boarwalk Resort) and it has a great selection of baked goods including specialty cupcakes, tarts and cannolis. Special mention goes to the cheesecake brownie, but my favorite is the unique Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie. The pie has a chocolate graham cracker crust, a peanut butter filling, bananas and bacon—the combination of flavors (salty bacon vs sweet filling) and textures is a winner.
3. The Writer’s Stop, Carrot Cake Cookie
This location in Hollywood Studios is a bit of a hidden gem. It is located beside the Sci Fi Dine In restaurant and offers several types of baked goods, along with specialty coffees and Goofy’s Glaciers (frozen drinks). The must have item here is the Carrot Cake cookie. Two round pieces of moist carrot cake joined together with a cream cheese frosting filling. Heaven!!
2. Kringla Bakeri og Kafe, Schoolbread
It is really, really tough to pick a favorite here. Norway’s bakery offers delicious savory sandwich as well as traditional Norwegian sweet treats. The lefse, rice cream, sweet pretzel with almonds, veiled maiden and verdens beste are all worth a try. My favorite is the Schoolbread which is a sweet bun flavored with cardamom, filled with a vanilla custard and topped with coconut. It is so good—and it also does well to get it to go and have it for breakfast the next morning.

1. Les Halles Boulangerie & Pâtisserie, Everything in the case!
There is no way I can choose my favorite treat here, but by far the offerings at Les Halles make it the number 1 bakery on Walt Disney World property. Crème brulee, chocolate mousse, savory sandwiches, soups and quiches, tarts, frangipane, madeleines, macarons, and more make it an overload for your taste buds! My most recent favorite find was the strawberry tart—a light vanilla cream topped with strawberries in a crust. Delicious!
When sampling the bakeries at Walt Disney World there are many options for unique and delicious sweets. Explore a little and find your favorite!
