This is tragic news for the Disney community.
Right now, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are facing a lot of renovations. Due to the history of the Parks, numerous rides have worn down over time. It is essential for Disney to protect and maintain the upkeep of these rides for future generations. Unfortunately, it also means that many iconic rides are being closed to the public left and right.
Disney fans are upset after it was announced by Disney that three iconic Disney rides would be closing in starting soon. No reopening date for the rides has been announced.
A Tragedy for Three Classic Rides
Ride closures are, unfortunately, a necessary part of running a theme Park, even if it is a bummer for Guests to experience. Due to the history of some of these rides and the frequency at which they operate, upkeep is non-negotiable. The three rides being closed down are based in Fantasyland within Disneyland Park. These three rides share the same show building, which is why they will all be undergoing renovations at the same time.
The rides to be affected are Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and Alice in Wonderland. All three of these rides opened in Disneyland Resort in the 1950s, so some tune-ups are definitely needed.

Disney has announced that the closures will begin on June 5, 2023. There has been no date announcing when the rides will reopen again after that. Disneyland Park encourages fans to “Please check back for updates.”
These ride closures are a bummer for Guests visiting the Parks. Every closure makes lines for other attractions longer. Unfortunately, this will not be the only closure Guests can expect to see this summer. For now, Disney fans should be prepared for anything and stay hopeful that these closures will be fixed as soon as possible.
