Bob Iger Reveals Plan in Memo

There’s no getting around it, this is a very sad time for the Walt Disney Company. Time and time again it has been reiterated that the backbone of the company is the talented employees that put their heart and soul into the company every single day. The Walt Disney Co has exceptional workers that give their heart and soul to the company every day, and the thought of losing 7,000 of them is devastating and hard to accept.

Unfortunately, the mass terminations are a critical part of Mr. Iger’s cost-cutting measures to help restore the company financially. In a recent memo, Bob Iger communicated to his employees exactly what was happening and what they can expect to see in the following week.

The memo explains that over the next four days, leaders will be contacting many employees who will be terminated. While there is no specific number of employees known to be fired in the next for days, many assume it will be thousands. The memo goes on to explain that “several thousand more staff reductions” will take place in April. The final wave will happen right before summer.

In his memo, Iger says,

“The difficult reality of many colleagues and friends leaving Disney is not something we take lightly. This company is home to the most talented and dedicated employees in the world, and so many of you bring a lifelong passion for Disney to your work here.”

Fans and Employees Question Who Will Be First to Go

Since he announced the layoffs, fans, and employees have wondered who exactly will be getting the chop. After “untouchable” Marvel Executive Victoria Alonso was fired last week, it is clear that terminations will be seen in all departments and in all ranks. More will be revealed after the first wave is concluded in four days.
