There are some drinks that many people associate with the holiday season — eggnog, hot chocolate, cranberry cocktails, hot buttered rum, and more. There are also certain flavors that evoke that holiday feeling, and nothing may seem more holiday than peppermint. Peppermint bark, peppermint hot chocolate, peppermint stick ice cream, peppermint just takes over everything.
This season, Disney has teamed up with Twinings Tea to share a recipe for the ultimate chocolate shake made with peppermint tea that is sure to get you into the holiday spirit!
To make this delicious concoction, you will need the following:
- 3 oz. boiled water
- 2 Twinings Peppermint Cheer tea bags
- 16 oz. of chocolate ice cream
- 1 tablespoon of crushed candy canes
Once you have boiled the water, pour it into a heat-proof container. Then steep the two Twinings Peppermint Cheer tea bags in the water for about three minutes, or until the tea is at the strength that you desire. The longer you steep the bags, the stronger the tea will be. After the tea is as strong as you would like, chill the tea by sticking it in the refrigerator for a little while.
Once the tea is chilled, add it to a blender with the chocolate ice cream. You can use whatever brand of ice cream is your favorite. Blend the tea and ice cream together until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Once blended, pour the mixture into your favorite Christmas glass or mug and top with the candy cane bits. For an extra treat, top the mixture with whipped cream and then sprinkle the candy cane bits on top of that.
Disney even gives a fun tip for those who are 21 and over and would like to give the drink an adult twist — add about 3 ounces of whipped cream vodka to the ice cream and tea and blend all three together.
If you would love to try this scrumptious drink but don’t want to make it yourself, you can head down to EPCOT for the International Festival of Holidays, where the Twinings Peppermint Shake is being sold at the Holiday Sweets & Treats Kitchen. The International Festival of Holidays is taking place through the holiday season and will run through December 30, 2021.
