14 years ago, viewers watched a Giselle — an animated woman from the world of Andalasia — was thrust into the real world and forced to learn that happy endings come in all shapes and sizes. Enchanted was a hit, with fans loving the acting, singing, and the fact that the film made fun of happy endings, while at the same time, giving each character their own, in typical Disney fashion.
For years, Disney fans begged for a sequel, and finally, after more than a decade, Disney gave us what we wanted. At the Annual Investor’s Meeting in 2020, Disney execs announced that a sequel — called Disenchanted — would be coming in the next few years.
Well, it has been a few years, and Disenchanted will premiere on Disney+ in just over two months — on November 24. We have been getting a steady stream of information over the years, including that the stars from the original film — Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and James Marsden — will all be returning.
With two months left to go until the premiere, Disney has finally given fans what they have been waiting for. An official trailer, which you can watch below!
Once again, Disenchanted will bring us back to a story of the real world clashing with the happy ending Giselle always thought existed. Things aren’t going as smoothly in her life as she would have hoped, so she wishes for her fairy tale ending. Unfortunately, Giselle forgets that fairy tales always have a darker side, and the trailer shows her turning into the wicked stepmother fairy tales rely on. Hopefully, things end better for her than they end for most wicked stepmothers.
Patrick Dempsey — who plays Giselle’s husband Robert — has promised even more singing in the sequel film. So, prepare to dance in your seat (or around your living room, we don’t judge).
Disenchanted will also star Gabriella Baldacchino as Robert’s daughter Morgan, Maya Rudolph as Malvina Monroe, Oscar Nunez as Edgar, Yvette Nicole Brown as Rosaleen, and Jayma Mays as Ruby.
Disenchanted will premiere on Disney+ on November 24, 2022.
