Two Days Before July 4, Disney Closes Patriotic-Themed Attraction
Soarin’ Across America — the flight simulator overlay created specifically to celebrate America’s 250th birthday — ran into serious technical trouble on its very first day of operation at Disney California Adventure Park, just 48 hours before Independence Day.

The attraction officially opened at Disney California Adventure Park on July 2, with @DisneyParks marking the occasion on X (formerly known as Twitter):

The West Coast debut had been a long time coming — the same patriotic overlay launched at EPCOT on May 26, meaning Southern California Disney Park guests had been waiting more than five weeks for their version to open. What they got on opening morning wasn’t quite the smooth debut Disneyland Resort had in mind.

WDWNT reported that the left theater — Concourse One — began experiencing technical failures within hours of the park opening. Guests said that the screen showed colorful lines across the image and glitched while the film played, before the system broke down entirely. The first group of riders in Concourse One experienced the malfunction in real time. The group that boarded after them was evacuated before their ride even started.
The App Goes Quiet
The situation became even more unusual mid-morning when Soarin’ Across America quietly vanished from the Disneyland Resort app: no wait time, no temporary closure notification, nothing. The Disney California Adventure Park map continued to show the Soarin’ building without indicating whether the Across America version was operational, leaving guests on the ground without any reliable official guidance.

Disneyland Resort did not issue a statement about the issues. Guests at the park reported that the Grizzly Peak attraction returned to service after roughly 45 minutes, though the app had yet to reflect a restored wait time when those reports surfaced.
For anyone heading to Disney California Adventure Park in the next few days, the safest approach is to check directly with theme park cast members at the Grizzly Peak entrance rather than relying on the app for the current availability of Soarin’ Across America.
