Disney World Reveals Replacements for Main Street, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Frontierland
Souvenir collectors visiting Magic Kingdom Park have new designs to hunt for, as Walt Disney World Resort quietly rolls out updated pressed penny and collectible medallion machines across nearly every land in the park.
Pressed Penny Machines Get an Upgrade at Magic Kingdom Park
Walt Disney World Resort has spent recent months gradually replacing its older pressed-penny machines with newer models featuring digital screens. These updated dispensers accept both cash and card payments, though card users must purchase the full set of eight designs for $5 rather than selecting just one for the traditional $1 cash price. Guests don’t need to bring their own pennies, either: the machines come preloaded with copper discs that are automatically flattened and stamped upon payment.
WDWNT first reported on the newest machines on August 31, spotting fresh installations in Storybook Circus within Fantasyland and near Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland. That same wave of updates included new machines at the Star Traders gift shop, near the Tomorrowland Speedway attraction, at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, and at the Walt Disney World Railroad station on Main Street, U.S.A.
Just days later, on September 2, WDWNT reported that even more updated machines were appearing throughout the park, including at the Emporium and Fantasy Faire gift shops. The outlet also confirmed additional installations at the Confectionery, Curtain Call Collectibles, near Pirates of the Caribbean, near Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, at the Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe, and at the Country Bear Musical Jamboree attraction.
Collectible Medallions Also Get New Designs
Also on September 2, WDWNT reported that new collectible medallion machines had appeared around Magic Kingdom Park. Unlike the penny machines, these dispensers sell premade coins priced at $10 each, or all four designs for $35. Disney has offered these medallions for years, though the company recently debuted its first colorful design — a departure from the usual solid gold or silver coins — near Pirates of the Caribbean.
New medallion machines have appeared at the Emporium (Main Street, U.S.A.) and Sir Mickey’s (Fantasyland) gift shops, alongside additional machines offering both colorful and single-toned designs at the Walt Disney World Railroad station, the Main Street Firehouse, under the veranda in Adventureland, and near Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Frontierland.
Much like the pressed pennies, these medallions typically feature a Disney character posed or dressed to match a nearby attraction, with a location-specific stamp appearing on one side across all four designs in a set.
Pressed pennies and collectible medallions remain available throughout Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney Springs, and the Disney Resort hotels.
