It’s not an understatement to say that Taylor Swift is one of the most successful musicians of all time. Becoming a household name when she was just 17 years old, Swift has never slowed down. In fact, she is the first musician to reach billionaire status, and she is only 34 years old! On top of being an incredibly talented musician, Swift has also become known for her incredible generosity to her employees and fans, as well as encouraging her fans to become involved in their communities, mainly through voting.

Swift is currently in the middle of her wildly successful Eras Tour and, last month, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the Eras Tour would be coming to Disney+ in March. Disney reportedly dropped $75 MILLION in order to be the exclusive streaming home of Taylor’s tour. The hope was that being able to watch the Eras Tour on Disney+ would bring in some much-needed viewership.
And it looks like the move has paid off.
According to TheWrap, in just four days, the Eras Tour has already broken Disney+ records.
In its opening weekend, the concert film logged 4.6 million views and 16.2 million hours on Disney+, marking the streamer’s most-watched music film to date, according to internal viewing data.
The three-and-a-half-hour movie, which premiered Thursday night on digital, features performances of new songs not featured in the theatrical release, such as “cardigan” and four additional acoustic songs: “Maroon,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.”
This is not the first time that Disney has made a concert available to stream on Disney+, but the Taylor Swift Eras Tour is by far the most successful. Subscribers can also stream Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, Elton John: Farewell From Dodger Stadium, Black Is King: A Film by Beyoncé, The Beatles: Get Back, and folklore: the long pond studio sessions, which is also by Taylor Swift.
Since returning as CEO in November 2022, Bob Iger has focused a lot of his energy on Disney+. Disney+ launched in 2019 and, for a lot of that time, has been a thorn in the company’s side. In just four years, the streaming service has lost Disney more than $11 billion.

Iger has made some significant changes to Disney+ in order to slow down losses and try to make the streamer profitable. That has included a number of series cancellations, including Willow, National Treasure: Edge of History, Doogie Kamealoha MD, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Big Shot, and The Mysterious Benedict Society.
Disney also canceled two series that had been filmed, but did not air — The Spiderwick Chronicles and Nautilus.
