A brand-new theme park is usually met with excitement, glowing first impressions, and families eager to explore something different. While plenty of guests are enjoying everything the latest addition has to offer, another conversation is quickly gaining traction as more visitors share their experiences.
Guest criticism has followed Universal before, covering everything from attraction policies to accessibility concerns across its parks. Now, the company’s newest destination is facing scrutiny of its own. Families say one part of the experience is making it harder to enjoy the park together, fueling debate over whether the resort truly delivers the kind of all-ages experience many parents expected.
Universal Keeps Growing Beyond Its Traditional Parks
Over the past several years, Universal has expanded well beyond its longtime destinations in Florida and California. Universal Orlando Resort now features Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and Epic Universe, while Universal Studios Hollywood continues serving guests on the West Coast.
The company has also broadened its approach by creating experiences for different audiences. Instead of focusing only on major thrill attractions, Universal developed a park built specifically for younger children and the families visiting with them. The goal is to offer an experience that feels approachable for guests who may not be ready for larger roller coasters.

Universal Kids Resort Brings a New Experience
Universal Kids Resort officially opened on July 1, 2026, introducing seven themed lands filled with familiar characters, themed dining, and attractions geared toward young visitors.
Everything about the park reflects that mission. Rather than chasing record-breaking coasters, Universal centered the experience around family rides, interactive play areas, entertainment, and opportunities for children to engage with favorite characters throughout the day.
That strategy has earned praise from many guests. At the same time, it has raised an important question. Can adults enjoy the attractions as much as the children they’re bringing to the park?
Some Parents Say Adults Were Overlooked
As more families spend time inside the park, some adults say they have discovered unexpected limitations on several attractions.
Because the rides were designed with younger guests in mind, some ride vehicles naturally fit smaller riders more comfortably. That has created challenges for certain parents hoping to experience every attraction alongside their children.
Mrs. Puff’s Boating School includes a maximum height limit of 77 inches, meaning some taller adults cannot ride. Others who meet the requirement may still find the lap bar feels tight depending on their height or body type.
Pteranodrop in Jurassic World Adventure Camp also includes modified seating for some adults, and Team Members can help guests explore those options.

The experience differs significantly from what many visitors expect at Universal. The resort is best known for attractions like Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Revenge of the Mummy, and Epic Universe’s Stardust Racers.
Universal Kids Resort takes a much gentler approach. Its attractions are closer in scale to The Barnstormer at Walt Disney World, offering family-friendly rides instead of major thrill experiences.
Most parents understand that difference. Their concern centers on whether adults can comfortably participate in those rides alongside their children.
Families Say Shared Experiences Matter
Guests generally recognize that Universal Kids Resort was designed with children as the priority.
Even so, many parents believe that doesn’t mean adults should feel left out.
Families visit children’s theme parks to create memories together. They want to ride side by side, laugh together, and experience those milestone moments as a group.
When an adult cannot fit comfortably or cannot ride at all, families sometimes have to separate. One parent rides with the child while the other waits nearby, changing the experience many had hoped to share together.
Some visitors believe Universal could have struck a better balance. A few attractions designed only for younger children would make sense, but many feel the majority should still accommodate a wider range of adult guests. They argue that parents aren’t simply there to supervise. They’re part of the family experience too.

This Isn’t a New Conversation for Universal
Ride accommodations have sparked discussions at Universal for years.
Plus-size and taller guests have frequently shared stories about difficulties fitting on attractions such as Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, and Revenge of the Mummy.
Safety restraints are essential, and every attraction has physical limitations. Still, some guests have long argued that Universal could do more to accommodate a broader range of body types.
That history has led some families to link the discussion of Universal Kids Resort to earlier concerns at Universal Orlando Resort.

Guest Feedback Could Shape the Future
Universal Kids Resort has received positive reviews for its imaginative lands, recognizable characters, and child-focused atmosphere. Many visitors say the park succeeds in giving younger guests an enjoyable place to explore.
However, conversations about adult accessibility are likely to continue as more families visit.
Universal has adjusted guest experiences in the past based on feedback, and many visitors will be watching to see whether the company considers changes as the park grows. Parents aren’t asking for bigger roller coasters or more intense attractions. They simply want as many families as possible to experience the park together, creating memories that include everyone.
