Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind usually leaves EPCOT guests with one big question as they prepare for their trip through space.
Which song are they going to hear?
For one day this September, Disney is eliminating that mystery entirely. A fan-favorite tradition is returning to the attraction, and guests visiting on the right date will know exactly what soundtrack they’re getting before they ever board.
There are also a couple of extra additions planned for the occasion.
One Song Takes Over Cosmic Rewind
Normally, riders randomly receive one of six songs. Guests have no control over which track plays, which means repeat rides can produce different experiences.
That changes completely for September 21.
Every ride will feature “September,” continuing a tradition Disney has used for the previous three years.
The reason behind the date comes straight from the song itself, which famously references the 21st night of September.
For Cosmic Rewind fans who have struggled to get “September” during a normal visit, the special day takes luck out of the equation.
The Attraction Usually Has Six Possibilities
Part of Cosmic Rewind’s repeat appeal comes from its soundtrack.
The regular rotation consists of “September,” “Conga,” “Disco Inferno,” “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” “I Ran (So Far Away),” and “One Way or Another.”
Guests don’t choose their track.
You could hear one song during your first ride and something completely different later in the day. You could also end up with the same track multiple times.
That has led some fans to repeatedly ride Cosmic Rewind while trying to experience all six versions.
Anyone attempting that challenge on September 21 won’t make much progress.
For that one day, “September” is taking over.
Disney Is Adding More to the Celebration
The music isn’t the only reason Guardians fans may want to visit EPCOT on September 21.
A new beverage is also coming to the park specifically for the occasion. The drink will only be offered that day, adding another limited-time element to the celebration.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Star-Lord.
Those extras turn what could have simply been a soundtrack change into a small Guardians celebration at EPCOT.
Visitors can hear “September” aboard Cosmic Rewind, grab the special beverage, and potentially see Star-Lord during the same trip.
The Change Won’t Last Long
Guests shouldn’t expect “September” to permanently replace Cosmic Rewind’s other songs.
The takeover is only planned for September 21.
Afterward, the attraction can return to its normal setup, and riders will once again have to wait until the music starts to discover which song they’ve received.
That’s part of what makes September 21 unusual.
Most days, getting your favorite Cosmic Rewind song comes down to chance. On this particular date, anyone hoping for “September” knows exactly when to visit.
And if you’ve been waiting for “Conga,” this probably isn’t your day.
