New Series On Development of Cotino, Storyliving by Disney Debuts
In its new four-part series, Walt Disney Imagineering will share the origins of Cotino, the first Storyliving by Disney community slated to open as early as 2024. Walt Disney Imagineering has shared that these new living communities, like Walt Disney World’s Golden Oak Private Community, will create “a place where world-famous Disney service is at the heart of it all.”
Furthermore, the first location, Cotino, a 24-acre site in the Rancho Mirage desert, will offer “a vibrant mix of experiences and activities that will inspire new passions” for Guests, full-time residents, and even the Cast Members who reside there and serve. In fact, the interest list recently opened for the California residential community as housing development continues on condominiums, single-family homes, hotels, and an over 55 residential section.
Of course, founder Walt Disney referred to the Greater Palm Springs Area as his “laughing place” and had his own vacation property here, which will now inspire the project’s developers, builders, and architects. For example, Creative Director Amy Young features in the new Disney Parks Blog series, The Story Behind the Making of Cotino, a Storyliving by Disney community.

The series will include three other installments featuring a different Imagineer, like “Setting the Stage,” “Magic is in the Details,” and “The Big Idea.” In the first episode, Young, the principal interior designer who says she always wanted to be an Imagineer, shares the origins of this “creative oasis.”
Having come from working on Bistro Chez Remy in Disneyland Paris, which invites Guests to dine at the size of a rat, Amy focuses on storytelling through immersive theming. As she shares in the video below, Cotino will include a creative studio to inspire residents, in addition to world-class service.

Imagineers drew inspiration from the history of Walt Disney Studios, as well as W.E.D. Enterprises itself, the precursor to the now-Walt Disney Imagineering division. Watch the video below to hear more:
