Disney Dining Serving up the latest Disney Eats, Treats, News, and More!
The Walt Disney Company has announced plans to open Cotino – A Storyliving by Disney Community as soon as 2024, and today interested fans received the opportunity to sign up for the new living development near Palm Springs.
As shared by Walt Disney Imagineering on the Storyliving by Disney website, Cast Members maintaining these new living communities will provide residents and Guests “a place where world-famous Disney service is at the heart of it all,” offering a “a vibrant mix of experiences and activities that will inspire new passions.” Plus, Cotino in particular will emphasize “the rich culture that inspired Walt Disney himself” when he and Lillian Disney had vacation real estate in a similar type of residential community.

Furthermore, the 24-acre Cotino site, the first of these communities, will have housing from condominiums to single-family homes available to buyers of all ages, with a particular section exclusive to residents over 55. In addition, Disney has filed zoning approvals for hotel development and new dining and entertainment options.
The idea is similar to the Golden Oak Private Community nearby the Walt Disney World Resort. When Disney Imagineers released design concepts for some of the homes last year, Disney Parks Blog stated:
With the rich history, culture and boundless beauty of California’s Coachella Valley for inspiration, DMB Development worked alongside the architectural design firm, WHA, with creative insight from Walt Disney Imagineering, to develop several inspirational home concepts that builders -can use to craft the homes in the community.

Previously, interested parties had the option to sign up for a mailing list from the Cotino team regarding updates, and today received an email message notifying them that sales for the “beautiful Rancho Mirage, CA” property are “anticipated to begin later this year.” As a result, Disney invited email recipients to sign up for updates on the location and Cotino community news when homes go one sale in 2023.
Guests can request general emails about Storyliving by Disney and future community developments, or specific updates regarding the development of the Cotino community in the Greater Palm Springs Area.
