When Disney CEO Bob Chapek first took the wheel in February 2020 from veteran CEO Bob Iger, nothing could have prepared him for all that would transpire in just the first few months of his new post.
That same month, the pandemic reared its ugly head, and former CEO Iger resumed operational duties for Disney while Chapek continued with the title of CEO.
Ahead of him were the reopenings of Shanghai Disneyland in May 2020, Disney World in July 2020, and Disneyland in April 2021, along with all that goes into making those decisions, staying compliant with local and federal authorities, keeping Cast Members and Guests safe, and of course, keeping that bottom line green and not red.
No wonder Chapek needed a new retreat, and what a retreat it is!
Bob and wife Cindy, who’ve been married 41 years and share 3 children and 4 grandchildren, purchased the 8-year-old home for a cool $12.5 million.
It’s located in the city of Westlake Village, California, in the Conejo Valley at the northern foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, approximately 40 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. The Chapeks are not new to the neighborhood, as they first moved to Westlake Village in 2019.
They purchased their first home in the Village for $5.3 million. The 20-year-old home had 7 bathrooms and 8 bathrooms over 9,000 square feet.
The couple’s new nearly 10,000-square-foot retreat is situated within a 24/7 guard-gated community on 6 acres and has 6 bedrooms and 6 1/2 bathrooms, all across only one level.
The home’s location is somewhat secluded. From the property’s front gates, the house isn’t visible to guests who must first travel down a long private driveway.
It comes with a 5-car garage and a motor court with room for more than 15 additional vehicles, as well as a separate guest house, accessible via breezeway from the main house.
Within its many walls are a massive indoor kitchen with imported stone countertops and custom-made cabinetry, along with a double-height formal dining room with two oversized crystal chandeliers and enough room to entertain 16 people at a dinner party.
Just outside the formal kitchen is a full outdoor kitchen, should the Chapeks want to entertain guests outside. Views of the sloping California landscape surround them.
Also outside is a rectangular pool and separate spa and a beautiful koi pond with a waterfall.
Back inside the home, the Chapeks enjoy an onyx-topped wet bar. They can enjoy drinks at the bar or step into the library with full skylights.
One of the 6 bedrooms is the couple’s Master Suite, which is easily the size of a smaller domicile just by itself. The suite features a sitting area, showroom closet, bathroom, and even doors that open onto the veranda.
Even the living and family areas are sprawling! There’s more than enough room for the Chapeks, their children and their grandchildren to enjoy family get-togethers.
It’s a massive h0me with a hefty price tag. But, nothing but the best for Disney’s newest CEO, right?
