A Disneyland Resort guest recently shared their negative experience on Space Mountain after years of complaints that some entitled Disney Park visitors are ruining experiences for the general public.

Space Mountain is a quintessential part of the Disneyland Park guest experience. Guests often wait more than an hour for the rollercoaster or its seasonal counterpart, Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. The Tomorrowland ride opened a few years after the original Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort.
The indoor rollercoaster is just one of the many rides guests say have been made worse by other selfish visitors. In a recent incident, Reddit user u/effingthingsucks said that another adult guest spent the entire time scrolling on his phone during the dark ride.
The Disney Park guest hoped a cast member would intervene, as rules state that loose objects must be secured upon boarding. Unfortunately, the guest remained on his phone for the entire ride.
The Reddit user tried to intervene, but the guest’s first language wasn’t English, and a communication barrier marred the interaction.
“My words and clearly angry tone didn’t mean anything because he couldn’t understand me,” the social media user wrote. “…He was scrolling IG in Japanese and it made sense why he didn’t understand my words.”
Other Disney Park guests shared their similar experiences.
“Happened to me on [Pirates of the Caribbean], a lady had her flash on to film the ride,” said u/goofus_andgallant. “I turned around and told her to turn it off. She seemed shocked and offended that someone would say something to her but she did have the decency to put her phone away.”
“I had the same thing happen to me on Pirates a couple of weeks ago,” u/muscleolot replied. “She was trying to film the ride with the flash on. She turned it off as well. I never understood why someone would ride a DARK ride and think it is OK to turn on their flash.”
The entitlement infuriated Disney Parks fans.

“Why do people buy a park ticket just to have a smartphone open the entire time they’re there?” u/Clambake42 asked. “Blows my mind.”
“These are probably the same folks who scroll and or watch videos while in a movie theater during the movie,” said u/darkofnight916.
Report any inappropriate Disney Resort guest behavior to the nearest cast member or at the exit of an attraction. Disney cast members sometimes allow guests to re-ride when another visitor impacts their experience.
