Walt Disney World is hailed as the Most Magical Place on Earth, and that’s an undeniable fact!  But accidents like this one can easily ruin the magic for everyone involved. The worst part about incidents like this is that they can all be avoided if Guests put their phones away during the ride.

Recently, Walt Disney World and Disneyland alike have introduced some new rules regarding certain attractions. You’ve likely heard of the ‘No Flash Photography’ rule before on Magic Kingdom attractions such as the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, “it’s a small world,” Peter Pan’s Flight, etc.

These guidelines have been put in place to protect the immersion and the Disney magic for other Guests, but more concrete rules have been implemented for Disney’s thrill rides.

For example, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and TRON Lightcycle Run have all had the same rule implemented recently: all cell phones must be put away to experience the roller coaster attraction. A rule like this isn’t just to preserve the Disney magic for surrounding Guests, but to protect the Guests themselves.

If you’re unwilling to be without your cell phone for a few moments during a roller coaster, then you may end up like the Guest in this video:

If you’ve ever lost a cell phone while riding an attraction, you probably know that the item cannot be retrieved until the theme park is closed and that the article may be broken when (or if) it gets back to you.

Also, losing a phone while riding a high-speed roller coaster can easily become dangerous for surrounding Guests. Luckily, it looks like nobody was hurt this time and that most of the damage was done to the cell phone itself.

To avoid experiencing an incident like this, keep your cell phone secure while riding a roller coaster such as Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, or the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
