It’s been more than two years sinceĀ Pirates of the CaribbeanĀ star Johnny Depp and his ex-wife, actress Amber Heard, faced off in a Virginia courtroom. Depp had sued theĀ AquamanĀ (2018) actress for $50 million for defamation of character after an OpEd was published inĀ The Washington PostĀ in 2018. Ms. Heard fought the accusations and filed her own defamation lawsuit against Mr. Depp, suing him for a whopping $100 million.

The defamation trial lasted for six weeks, during which time Ms. Heard described the abuse she alleged she suffered at the hands of Mr. Depp. TheĀ Edward ScissorhandsĀ (1990) actor not only denied the abuse, but instead claimed that Heard was the one who abused him. He even played a tape recording of Ms. Heard, where she admitted to hitting Depp and telling him that the police would not believe him.

In the end, the jury determined that Depp and Heard had “mutually abused” one another, but that Ms. Heard was more at fault. Mr. Depp was originally awarded more than $15 million, while Ms. Heard was awarded just $2 million. However, Mr. Depp ended up accepting just $1 million from Heard, which he donated to charity.

Despite the fact that it’s been more than two years since the case, fans are still interested in the bitter battle between the exes. And now, one private investigator who was hired by Amber Heard is speaking out.

Paul Barresi claimed that he was hired by Amber Heard’s legal team in 2019 and was tasked with digging up dirt against Johnny Depp that could be used against him in court. Mr. Barresi claimed that he told Ms. Heard that he would find out the truth, even if the things that he found were not good for her.

And he is saying they definitely weren’t.

Per the Daily Mail, in Mr. Barresi’s new book, Johnny Depp’s Accidental Fixer, the former adult film star said that he could not find any information that Depp was the abuser that Heard claimed he was.

[Barresi] recalls interviewing 100 people ahead of Depp’s libel trials against his ex-wife, only to find that the majority were still on the star’s side.Ā

They described Depp as a ‘gentleman’s gentleman’ and as someone who ‘doesn’t have a mean bone in his body’, despite the disturbing accusations that had been leveled against him.Ā

Friends of the Pirates of the Caribbean star also told Barresi that Depp had ‘respect and adoration for women’ ā€“ in contrast to Heard’s claims that he was physically and mentally abusive.

Throughout the trial and long after, fans have stood behind Johnny Depp and demanded apologies from studios that dropped him. When the OpEd was published, Disney dropped Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean 6. He was also replaced asĀ Gellert Grindelwald in theĀ Harry PotterĀ spinoff franchiseĀ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.Ā

And it seems that fans are not the only ones who want to see Depp back at the Mouse House.Ā Pirates of the CaribbeanĀ producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Terry Rosio, who wrote all the PiratesĀ movies, have both publicly said that they want the actor to return as Captain Jack Sparrow.

Disney, however, has remained non-committal, but has indicated that it would be willing to work with Depp. Mr. Depp might not feel the same way, however. During the trial, Depp famously said that he would not return to Disney, even if he was offered “$300 million and one million alpacas.”

Since the trial, Mr. Depp has remained in Hollywood and said that he would love to do more work behind the camera. Ms. Heard has left the film industry and is currently living in Spain with her young daughter, Oonagh.

Do you think Johnny Depp should forgive Disney and return as Captain Jack? Let us know in the comments!

  1. They did not decide that they were ā€œmutually abusiveā€. The jury unanimously agreed that Heardā€™s accusations were false and made with malicious intent. They found Deppā€™s lawyer defamed Heard on one statement where he accused her and her friends of calling the police a second time after purposely trashing the apartment to make it look like Depp did it. You should really re-read the verdict sheets or watch the verdict on YouTube because your take is extremely wrong.
