Universal Studios Hollywood is one of the smaller theme parks, but is packed with loads of fun for the entire family. Guests can ride on flying benches on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, or they can become a minion on Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem. For thrill-seekers, Guests can head to the lower lot and fight Megatron on Transformers: The Ride 3D, see terrifying dinosaurs on Jurassic World: The Ride, or find themselves surrounded by mummies on the indoor roller coaster, Revenge of the Mummy.

According to reports, we are now learning that Revenge of the Mummy may not be around for much longer. The Twitter account Universal Core — which shares all Universal Studios news — said that the roller coaster is set to be demolished at Universal Hollywood in 2023. The demolition was supposed to take place in 2020, but had to be delayed because the Park closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Further reports indicate that Revenge of the Mummy will be replaced by a roller coaster themed after the popular film franchise, The Fast & the Furious. Earlier this month, Universal Studios Hollywood filed permits to begin work on an outdoor “drifting car” roller coaster.
Theme Park blogger Alicia Stella shared a picture of the filed permit.

Now, it is important to remember that, at this time, Universal has not confirmed that Revenge of the Mummy will be torn down in 2023. Disney Dining will keep readers updated if and when that happens.
The construction of a new roller coaster is not the only major construction Universal Studios Hollywood has undergone in recent years. Universal Hollywood has been hard at work on the construction of its new Super Nintendo World. Super Nintendo World will bring Guests into Bowser’s Castle with the new attraction, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.

Super Nintendo World is set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023. Another Super Nintendo World is also being built at the Universal Orlando Resort’s third theme park — Epic Universe — which is currently under construction.
If Universal does build a Fast & Furious roller coaster, it will be the second Fast & Furious attraction. The Fast & the Furious: Supercharged is a 3D experience that is a part of the Studio Backlot Tour.
