On April 22, a number of nighttime spectaculars will be returning to Disneyland Resort. Disneyland Park will see the return of both Disneyland Forever fireworks and Walt Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade. Disney California Adventure Park will bring back its only nighttime show, World of Color, which has been non-operational since the theme parks opened back up last April.
Before the pandemic, Guests wanting to watch World of Color would have to get a paper ticket that would tell them where to go — it was essentially a FastPass. There would be different colored viewing areas and the paper ticket would also tell you which show you would be going to, as there were typically two per evening. However, since the FastPass system and paper tickets are now a thing of the past, those wanting to watch World of Color will be forced to go digital.
When it returns, World of Color will be utilizing a virtual queue. Disney Parks Blog shared more information on how the queue system will work:
This virtual queue is only accessible via the Disneyland mobile app. Beginning April 22, distribution times for the virtual queue enrollment will begin at noon, daily.* If you are able to make a virtual queue selection, you will receive a notification via the Disneyland app to enter the designated “World of Color” viewing area via one of the two marked entrance points (Blue or Yellow), approximately 45 minutes before the show begins. For how-to details on the virtual queue system, visit Disneyland.com. If the virtual queue reaches capacity, please visit the Paradise Bay viewing area shortly before “World of Color” begins to check in with a cast member for walk-up viewing options. Joining the virtual queue for World of Color is not required to view the spectacular, but it is highly recommended.
It is important to note that, while reservations are not required to watch World of Color, there may be a chance that you will not be allowed to watch if the Park is particularly crowded. Since Guests have been waiting for a long time to see World of Color come back, it is HIGHLY recommended that you try to reserve your spot, at least for now.
World of Color is shown along Pixar Pier, so there is only a limited amount of space, as the large walkways must be kept clear. If Cast Members do not have space to put you, they will tell you to keep walking. If you would also like to watch the show with potentially smaller crowds, it is recommended that you try to reserve a spot for the later show. Traditionally, the first show is always the most crowded.
