On April 13, the Anaheim Police Department shared a tweet to try to convince more people to work for them. The tweet said that the department needed to expand because the city of Anaheim was expanding. Not only have the owners of the Anaheim Ducks hockey team proposed a 95-acre area full of shopping, dining, and living areas, but there is also a massive Disneyland expansion called DisneylandForward in the works.

With the expansion of Disneyland (DisneylandForward) and the Honda Center (OCVibe) Anaheim is growing and so are we! Now is the time to take the first step in taking your life to the next level. Apply TODAY for Police Officer Trainee & Lateral. Go to JoinAnaheimPD.com

The Anaheim PD’s tweet about DisneylandForward caused a lot of chatter on Twitter. Many were asking if the police department had leaked news of the project. There were even news headlines that said the same thing. However, to clarify, that is NOT the case.

Disney announced the DisneylandForward about one year ago. It is the biggest expansion that Disneyland Resort has ever seen. If everything is approved by the city of Anaheim, Disney is going to build more lands, more shopping and dining areas, and more. The multi-year project is incredibly ambitious and could transform Disneyland Resort truly into a vacation destination.

Here is more information on Disney’s dreams for DisneylandForward:

We want to bring more Disney investment to Anaheim. However, this simply isn’t possible under current inflexible planning restrictions unless we remove and replace treasured rides and attractions in our Parks today. Without updates, new Disney experiences and placemaking, created from our beloved stories, will likely never find their way to the Disneyland Resort as they have to other parks throughout the world. With DisneylandForward and more flexibility within our existing properties, new lands and adventures like those underway at Tokyo DisneySea and Shanghai Disneyland could inspire new experiences here.

While Disney has not confirmed what lands they would bring to Disneyland Resort if the expansion is approved, they did say that both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure could get new lands. Disneyland Park could potentially see a Frozen-themed area, a Tangled area, and maybe even a land based on the classic film, Peter Pan.

Disney California Adventure could possibly see Pixar Pier expanded and Toy Story Land — similar to the one in Walt Disney World — created. There is also the possibility of building the TRON: LightCycle Run — like the one in Shanghai Disney and soon Disney World — and maybe even a Zootopia land.

At this time, Disney has not confirmed if any permits have been approved for the DisneylandForward project. However, there is a lot of active construction currently going on in the Downtown Disney District. Disney is currently reimagining the area into a brand-new, more modern, shopping and eating area.
