Star Wars has given some memorable performances in the past. From a young boy on Tatooine to a fleet-sized adventure on Exegol, viewers of George Lucas’s space opera have been privy to diverse characters, both light and dark. In a galaxy that supports all types of life, among the vast faces is probably the most hated Star Wars character of all time, Jar Jar Binks, played by Ahmed Best.

Ahmed Best first joined the Star Wars universe in 1999 when he brought the CGI character Jar Jar Binks to life in Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Part of the prequel trilogy, the goofy Gungan with a knack for finding his way into curious situations was immediately met with distaste from Star Wars fans.

Thanks to his role, Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best was also shunned, even bullied by Star Wars fans, who had little issue loudly voicing their dislike for what he brought to the beloved franchise.

In terms of The Phantom Menace, a story that introduced the world to Anakin Skywalker (who would later become Darth Vader), Jar Jar Binks, despite fan hate, would be an instrumental factor in bringing the storyline together, ultimately encountering Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui Gon Jinn on Naboo.

Despite the importance of the character, who would later act as a Senator on Coruscant, Ahmed Best would go on to suffer the vitriol of Star Wars fans for his performance of the dorky Gungan, even leading to thoughts about suicide.

Despite the past, Ahmed Best shocked the Star Wars world in 2022 when he returned to the massive franchise, now owned by Disney, but this time, not as a clumsy CGI creature, but instead a Jedi.

Taking advantage of the attractive story surrounding Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, which culminated in the prequel trilogy, Disney and Jon Favreau put together some of the best Star Wars content in 2022 with their Obi Wan Kenobi mini-series on Disney+.

Instead of Jar Jar, Best would portray Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, an instrumental part in getting another well-accepted Mandalorian character out of the Jedi Council building during the infamous Order 66.

The character he helped escape? Well, since the Mandalorian debuted in its 2019 debut, Star Wars fans have been obsessed with a tiny green child affectionately known as Baby Yoda. Best’s character saved Baby Yoda from the massacre of Jedi at the temple.

Since his time in prequel trilogy, outside of voicing Jar Jar Binks in Clone Wars and Robot Chicken, Ahmed Best was back in live-action Star Wars. Considering how they treated him during his first run, Star Wars fans celebrated the redemptive character of Kelleran Beq.

Seeing Best return to save Grogu (the official name of Baby Yoda), which makes the beloved future relationship with Din Djarin (Mandalorian) possible, Star Wars fans are incredibly excited about the potential of his future involvement as the franchise evolves even further.

Coming off of the news of a Mandalorian and Grogu movie by Dave Filoni, it seems that Kelleran Beq’s character may finally make his way out of the Jedi Temple and into a more profound role in the Star Wars universe; keeping that in mind, a recent social media post by Ahmed Best may tease his involvement in the project (or other projects moving forward).

Ashely Carter recently shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, that shows Best hinting at a return. However, there’s an interesting tidbit to consider here. In the post, a photo shows Best in CGI tracking gear, and there’s a hashtag hidden among the text that could hint at his return, but not at Beq!

“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. #mocap #starwars #jarjarbinks #activision #jedi #sithlord #kelleranbeq”

Did you catch it? Of course, the actor hints at his role as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, but he also hints at a possible return of Jar Jar Binks!

However, diving a bit further into the hashtags, we can also decipher that this hint may not be about a Star Wars show or film. Considering the reference to Activision, it’s possible that Ahmed Best could be hinting at a possible video game return.

Funny enough, Best also included the hashtag #sithlord. This is, without a doubt, a reference to a fan theory that suggests Jar Jar Binks is actually a Sith Lord who uses his awkward style to put the chain of events in motion that leads to the birth of Darth Vader.

With Pedro Pascal and others already confirmed for a new Star Wars franchise film, it remains to be seen if Jedi Master Beq could make a return to the movie side of things since his last days in Episode III.
