It’s no secret that Bluey has quickly become one of the most successful animated series of all time, but why have things been so quiet since last we saw our favorite blue pup?

For those of you still in the dark, Bluey is an Australian animated children’s television series that follows the adventures of a playful bluey heeler and her family. The show is known for its imaginative storytelling, emphasis on family, friendship, creativity, and massive adult following.

While both kids and their parents enjoy the series, it’s going to be a long while before we see season four. However, Ludo Studios isn’t leaving us empty-handed. A new clip of the next Bluey minisode aired on social media today, and it’s just as playful as expected.

It was previously announced that Bluey creator Joe Brumm, producer Daley Pearson, and the rest of the creative team at Ludo would be taking an extended hiatus after the end of season three. However, the new miniseries is here to fill the void between our next batch of full, presumably longer, episodes in the inevitable season four.

Ludo and Disney promised eager viewers a whopping 20 new minisodes, each being only a few minutes long. The first batch was released earlier in May of 2024, but Ludo just dropped an official release date for the next batch, along with a first look (seen below).

While it seems Nana might have a bit of a mess on her hands, fans don’t have to wait much longer for their next Bluey fix. According to Bluey’s official blog, the next batch of minisodes is set to premiere on ABC iView and Disney+ this October.

The announcement reads,

“The next batch of ‘Bluey’ minisodes are coming to ABC iview and Disney+ next month! Seven new minisodes featuring your favourite ‘Bluey’ characters will arrive on ABC iview in Australia on 4 October 2024, and on Disney+ elsewhere around the world on 7 October 2024.”

“Written by ‘Bluey’ creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studios, these new minisodes are the second collection of bite-sized moments following the release of the first batch earlier this year.”

While this might only be a small, snack-sized version of what the show’s devoted fanbase is likely used to, there might also be a hidden teaser amongst the news. The blog goes on to mention that a third and final batch of minisodes will be released before the year is up, meaning we might not have to wait too much longer for season four.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d all have a merry Christmas, but Bluey is far from finished. In this writer’s opinion, the entirety of the miniseries is just an appetizer for viewers before the main course.

While rumors of the show’s cancellation persist, the studios involved have announced no true finale. With Disney increasing its interest in bringing Bluey to the parks and possibly even the silver screen, we can expect great things from our favorite family of cartoon dogs.
