Walt Disney World is constantly making edits and updates as they prepare to reopen select Walt Disney World Resorts on June 22. Now more than ever, they are encouraging online check-in so guests can avoid the Guest Services if at all possible with social distancing in mind. Selecting your arrival time and MagicBands are normal for online check-in, but now Disney has added a Housekeeping preference.
When completing online check-in this morning for one of our upcoming stays, we were prompted with a new screen regarding Housekeeping Service preference:
The website shares: “Prior to your arrival, your room will undergo thorough cleaning. Throughout your stay, you’ll receive light cleaning service every other day (if you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member using your Membership to stay, you’ll receive service on the 4th and 8th days). Or, you can decline this service.”

We’re then given two options:
- I’d like service every other day (or service on the 4th and 8th days, if you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member using your Membership) OR
- “I’d like to decline service.”
Keep in mind that as a DVC Member, the 4th and 8th day is completely normal with any stay prior to the whole COVID-19 closures. The newbie here is having an option to decline service all together during online check-in.
With the spread of the virus, we believe many would prefer NOT to have housekeeping in their resort room on a daily basis. Disney has shared however that they have the right to enter a resort room for security and maintenance purposes as needed even if you decline housekeeping service.
What would your housekeeping preference be?
