Most Popular Halloween Character Updated by Disney, First Look Given

There’s always something thrilling about Halloween at Walt Disney World, but this year, a familiar face has received a hauntingly delightful makeover. As Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns for the 2025 season, Jack Skellington emerges with an updated look that brings him closer than ever to his cinematic roots.

Revealed on the Disney Parks Instagram account, the redesign presents Jack in a form nearly identical to the character in 1993’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. The movie, produced by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick, has long been a fan favorite, with Chris Sarandon lending his voice to the skeletal Pumpkin King. In previous years, Jack’s park appearance featured a more stylized mask and makeup that divided opinions. This year’s refresh brings a softer, more accurate face design that fans have embraced with comments like “Awesome, he looks like himself now,” and “looks so much better.”

The redesign is expected to become a major photo-op magnet for party guests—just one of many reasons to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which runs on select nights from August 15 through October 31.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
