It’s never been a secret that a Walt Disney World Resort vacation is not a cheap experience. Between flights, hotels, theme park tickets, food, merchandise, and extras like the Lightning Lane MultiPass, the cost of a Disney World trip can easily soar into the thousands of dollars.
However, depending on who you ask, the price of a Disney vacation is worth it. Thousands of guests will even admit to going into debt so their families and loved ones can experience that special Disney magic.

One thing that will always affect how much guests can spend on their Disney vacations is inflation. With everything getting more expensive — and wages not increasing fast enough — a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth is becoming a pipe dream for more and more people.
Even guests who can afford a trip find themselves divided between the haves and the have-nots when it comes to extras like the Lightning Lane MultiPass.
While it wouldn’t be surprising to know that Disney prices have increased significantly as inflation has gone up, it might shock many to just how much Disney has inflated its prices. It even has its own name — “Disneyflation” — and it is making Disney millions.

According to a new report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the cost of a ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has increased an astonishing 158% over the past ten years. Yes, you read that correctly — 158 PERCENT in just ten years.
The cost increase of the popular Disney Halloween party was compared to staple items like gas, eggs, and a loaf of white bread. As you can see in the chart below, the cost of eggs has increased by 73% over the past ten years, while the cost of bread has increased by 45%. Gas, while still extremely expensive in some parts of the country, has only increased by 7% over that time.

Ten years ago, the cheapest Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket cost just $66 per guest, with the most expensive ticket — typically the party that took place on October 31st — was $82. Now, the cheapest Halloween party tickets will cost guests $127 per person, and the most expensive ticket is a whopping $212.
It’s truly mind-boggling to think about how much Disney has made on ticket price increases alone. Add to that the fact that Disney World is now hosting more Halloween parties than ever. Last year, Magic Kingdom Park hosted 38 parties, and this year, there will be 37 parties celebrating all things scary and villainous.
This year, Halloween Time at Disney World kicked off on August 9, with the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party selling out. Guests were ready to celebrate the spookiest time of the year a full 83 days before the actual holiday.
