More Synergy with Disney+ is Coming Says Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro

We all know that last year hasn’t been easy for the Disney Parks. With Disneyland just getting ready to open and the uncertainty of Disney Cruise still around, the Disney Company has had some struggles. Josh D’Amara, Disney Parks Chairman, recently sat down with CNN about how Disney+ is impacted the theme parks.

D’Amaro addressed how the new focus on streaming is impacted the Disney Park. With the focus on new technology, how does this connect and help the parks themselves. “I think they fit perfectly. Clearly, Disney+ has been phenomenally successful at the Disney company. We have the benefit of having these unbelievably powerful assets in the ground and the combination of a company that’s got such a strong and growing digital footprint, with the physical footprint, I think gives us opportunity to fuse those two things together like no other company can.

D’Amaro continues in the interview to discuss how guests can expect to see more synergy between Disney+ and the parks in the areas of content. “There are many simple ways Disney+ can slide into the theme parks, having the app built into the hotel rooms TV, merchandise in stores, and advertising the Disney+ Originals at the parks on the billboards in the parks and on transportation.  Adding characters from the hit Disney+ series to meet & greet experiences or into the parades, are another option.

We all know that Disney Parks continue to note operate at what we know as “normal”. It continues to be a difficult time for the parks and Disney+ is in a very different position that can help the company during these harsh times.
