A key Marvel Studios executive who helped bring Black Panther (2018) to life as a billion-dollar cultural landmark is set to leave his position next year.
Nate Moore, a veteran producer at Marvel since 2010, has announced his departure from the studio following the release of Captain America: Brave New World (2025). The fourth installment in the Captain America franchise, directed by Julius Onah, is scheduled to hit theaters in February. Despite a troubled production marked by reshoots and mixed test screenings, the film remains a pivotal entry in Marvel’s Phase Five lineup.
After his exit, Moore will focus on producing outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though he confirmed he will stay involved in the highly anticipated Black Panther 3. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and executive producer Louis D’Esposito expressed their gratitude and admiration for Moore in a statement shared with Deadline:
“Nate is a fantastic executive and colleague as well as a wonderful friend to all of us here at Marvel Studios. He has been a core member of our team since 2010, and his influence will continue to reverberate in our storytelling. Although we’ll miss him a great deal, we look forward to watching what he does next while also having the good fortune of working with him in a new way on our next Black Panther movie.”
While Black Panther 3 remains undated, small details about the sequel, such as Denzel Washington’s surprise involvement, have started to emerge. Having produced both previous Black Panther films, Moore confirmed he would return to shepherd the next chapter in the beloved franchise.
“Nearly everything I know about producing I’ve learned from my time at Marvel Studios,” Moore said in a statement. “I feel lucky to have worked with a group of people who love filmmaking and storytelling as much as my Marvel colleagues and the cast and crew of our films. But I couldn’t be more excited to apply my experience and passion for film towards theatrical movies in all genres, including returning to the world of Wakanda for Black Panther 3.”
Moore’s announcement comes as Marvel Studios and Disney look to close out Phase Five amid a mixed reception. Following the massive success of Deadpool & Wolverine, which earned $1.3 billion, Captain America: Brave New World will arrive next year as the penultimate Phase Five film.
While expectations for the film are tempered due to its bumpy development, fans may still flock to see how it sets up Thunderbolts* (2025). All eyes are on the MCU’s future, especially with Robert Downey Jr. set to reprise his iconic role as Tony Stark in Avengers: Doomsday (2026).
