Magic Kingdom Installs the Crown Jewel Of Its Newest Attraction

For decades, Splash Mountain was one of the most recognizable attractions of both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World, becoming an unofficial symbol for each theme park it resided in.

However, as decades rolled by and the times changed, it became increasingly clear that Splash Mountain’s source material was something the Walt Disney Company tried its best to keep hidden.

By now, it’s no secret that Song of the South (1946), the source material for the characters and story from Splash Mountain, is woefully outdated. Even at the time of the film’s release, there was plenty of criticism to go around.

As a result of the film’s reputation and the attraction’s dwindling functionality (in each Disney Park), Disney made a huge decision to scrap the Splash Mountain ride and reskin it as an entirely new attraction: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Walt Disney World’s version of Splash Mountain resided in Magic Kingdom, and its doors closed forever back in January. Immediately, Walt Disney Imagineering got to work on Princess Tiana’s debut attraction.

Less than six months later, and Walt Disney Imagineering has already completed the attraction’s iconic symbol:

In these photos shared by the official Disney Parks Twitter account, we can see that the water tower of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has finally been installed.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is currently scheduled to open in the summer of 2024 in Magic Kingdom. The attraction will include familiar faces such as Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, and even Prince Ralphie, but will also include some new characters.
