After opening the Magic Kingdom in 1971, the Disney Resort in Florida has only grown. Now, Walt Disney World encompasses four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Additionally, you can find waterparks, golf courses, over 25 resort hotels, and Disney Springs, an outside Disney shopping district.

Planning Disney Trips Far in Advance

Guests travel daily from across the world to experience the magic of a Disney vacation. Recent changes to the resort have made it so that guests are planning their trips further and further in advance. It’s likely that the longer in advance you plan a Disney vacation, the more affordable it will be. Additionally, it gives you more time to arrange travel accommodations and extra experiences, such as dining reservations or holiday parties.

However, planning ahead can lead to unfortunate circumstances coming up that alter or prevent your travel plans. In recent years, we’ve seen that sickness and travel restrictions due to the pandemic safety measures had a significant impact on vacations and travel plans. However, what happens when you plan a trip and unexpected life events hit you just before? That was the circumstances that one Disney fan shared on social media.

You Just Lost Your Job, What Are You Going To Do Next?

In a Walt Disney World social media, this fan shared, “Lost my job with the company I’ve been with for almost ten years on Thursday. Trip was book[ed], paid for, and started yesterday. At least I have this going for me?” Along with this statement, he shared his screenshot of a virtual queue reservation for Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction: TRON Lightcyle / Run.

The Disney fan continued, “Seriously though I thought about cancelling but my mom reminded me that being sad at Disney would be better than being sad at home by myself?” Honestly, I can’t help but find myself both emphasizing and agreeing with them. It turns out that I’m not alone in this response.

Disney fans flooded in with responses of sympathy and support, sharing similar situations and how Disney magic was the answer even during uncertain times. One fan responded, saying, “I was laid off a week before my trip! Had the best trip ever and even got a CM [Cast Member] at our resort to make me a ‘I’m Celebrating’ pin that said ‘being laid off.'”

About Megan Losey

As a Disney foodie, I love writing about Disney food and snacks. Some of my favorites are the Carrot Cake Cookie from Trolley Car Cafe, the Mickey Beignets from Port Orleans French Quarter, and the Apple Blossom from Port Orleans Riverside. When I'm visiting the parks, you can find me on Main Street taking in the good vibe of Magic Kingdom or relaxing with a drink at the Polynesian watching the fireworks from the beach. As a previous Cast Member, I will always have a special place in my heart for the Magic Kingdom, especially Main Street U.S.A.
