The Little Mermaid is taking the world by storm…again. The new live action film is all anyone seems to be talking about. To celebrate, Disney Parks have a skew of new food and experiences because they have learned a thing or two since the last time Ariel was all the rage.
In 1989, Disney’s animation releases…lacked the popularity they enjoy today. Films (hopefully but not always) made a profit at the box office and that was it. Nothing more until the VHS release (yes, VHS– it’s those black brick looking thingies we have before DVD and Blu-ray). When Disney struck gold with The Little Mermaid they were not prepared. Little girls everywhere (including myself) wanted MERCH! We wanted dolls, costumes, toys, you name it! Disney didn’t have any of it. It took years for a meet and greet and decades for a ride.
This time they are better prepared. Toys are lining the shelves at retailers everywhere and a live-action Ariel meet and greet has already debuted in the Parks. They’ve also added a lot more fun! Take a look at the special limited time offerings to celebrate life “Under the Sea“:
