Some very sad news to share this holiday season. Call of Duty and All American star Kamar de los Reyes has died after a brief battle with cancer. He was just 56 years old. According to the actor’s family, de los Reyes died on Christmas Eve.
Throughout his long career in Hollywood, de los Reyes starred in a number of his films and television shows. This included Valley of the Dolls (1994), Law & Order, Blue Bloods, The Rookie, and Sleepy Hollow. But ABC soap opera fans will most likely recognize him as the actor who played Antonio Vega on One Life to Live. De los Reyes was on the show for nearly 15 years and appeared in 287 episodes.

Video game fans will know de los Reyes as the voice of Raul Menedez in the hit franchise, Call of Duty. De los Reyes also provided his image for the motion-capture animation that is used in the video game. He appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Although de los Reyes was sick, he did not slow down in the career that he loved so much. At the time of his death, get was still shooting episodes for All American. He was also working on a new Hulu limited series called Washington Black, alongside This Is Us star, Sterling K. Brown. De los Reyes was also set to appear in Marvel’s new Daredevil series, which is expected to come out in 2025.
Shortly after news of de los Reyes’ death was made public, All American showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll released a statement to Deadline Hollywood.
“We are absolutely devastated at the loss of Kamar. He was such a beloved member of our All American family. He brought so much love, light and joy to the set every day, even during his final days. We are so grateful for every moment he spent with us. Our hearts and sincere condolences are with Sherri, Caylen, Michael, John and the rest of Kamar’s family. Thank you for sharing him so generously with us and with the rest of the world. He truly was a gift. One we will cherish forever.”

Kamar de los Reyes was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1967, but grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father, Walfredo de los Reyes, was a well-known Cuban percussionist. Kamar’s two brothers, Walfredo Jr. and Daniel also became professional percussionists, playing in bands like Chicago and Zac Brown Band.
In 2007, de los Reyes married his One Life to Live costar, Sherri Saum, who also stars in the hit Freeform show, Good Trouble. The couple share 9-year-old twins John and Michael. De los Reyes also has a 26-year-old son from a previous relationship. He leaves behind his wife and children, as well as his mother Mathilda, his father, his two brothers, and his two sisters, Lily and Ilde.
