New ‘Jurassic’ Experience May Surpass Universal Theme Park Attractions
When fans think of stepping into the world of Jurassic Park, their first instinct is to look toward the towering gates at Universal Studios Florida or Universal Studios Hollywood. But soon, a new experience is coming that might just steal the spotlight from the real-world theme park attractions—and it doesn’t require a plane ticket.
That’s because “Jurassic Park: Survival”, an upcoming first-person action-adventure video game from developer and publisher Saber Interactive, is offering fans something the theme parks can’t: a chance to explore Isla Nublar itself.
Not a ride, not a staged attraction—but “a fully realized” version of the island, per the website, brought to life with astonishing detail, and filled with dangers at every turn.

Set in the immediate aftermath of the 1993 film, “Jurassic Park: Survival” places players in the shoes of Dr. Maya Joshi, a scientist left behind during the evacuation of the island. Alone, outnumbered, and on the menu, Maya must survive the chaos, navigating a landscape where every rustling bush or distant roar could mean trouble.
For longtime fans of the franchise, that premise is more than just another game—it will be the closest thing to a fully immersive simulator based around that original 1993 film.
Players will return to iconic locations like the Visitor Center, the Raptor Paddock, and the T-Rex breakout zone, all faithfully re-creations of their big-screen counterpart designs.
And for those eager to go beyond what they saw in the 1993 film, the game also promises new areas of Isla Nublar that have never been explored—hidden research facilities, jungle paths, and secret tunnels that deepen the lore of the original film.
The result? A theme park experience that could rival, if not surpass, the thrill of riding attractions such as VelociCoaster or Jurassic Park: River Adventure at Universal Studios.

Unlike the tightly choreographed experiences at Universal’s parks, “Jurassic Park: Survival” is unscripted. Raptors roam freely. The island isn’t waiting for you—it’s trying to kill you. And as the name suggests, survival is far from guaranteed.
Since the first Jurassic Park ride debuted at Universal Studios Hollywood in 1996, the franchise has had a major presence in the theme park world. Universal Orlando’s Jurassic Park area remains one of the most immersive lands the resort has to offer, and the re-themed Jurassic World attractions continue to draw massive crowds.
But for all the excitement those rides generate, they’re not part of the broader Jurassic story. Set directly after the 1993 film, “Jurassic Park: Survival” is shaping up to be something more—a full narrative experience that doesn’t just let you explore the island, but live on it. It’s a level of immersion theme parks can’t quite replicate, at least not yet.
The closest fans have come is the moving experience, Jurassic World: The Exhibition.
Of course, nothing will ever replace the thrill of experiencing Universal Studios’ Jurassic attractions, but “Jurassic Park: Survival” offers something new: a chance to get lost—really lost—in the world that started it all.
And for a franchise built on the idea that man shouldn’t meddle with nature, this virtual return to Isla Nublar might be the most dangerous (and exciting) Jurassic experience yet.
