The race to become the next James Bond has produced plenty of rumored contenders in recent months, but Jack Lowden remains one of the names attracting the most attention.
The Slow Horses actor has now addressed the speculation, although his latest comments offer little indication of whether he is actually in contention.

“It’s all very flattering,” Lowden said in an interview with GQ. “It’s nice to be mentioned — for any role — and I’m just not really going to add to the noise.”
The actor was also asked about Gary Oldman’s public support. His Slow Horses co-star previously suggested that Bond producers had already made their choice, prompting speculation that Lowden could be preparing to inherit the 007 designation from Daniel Craig.
“It’s very nice, and Gary’s a sweetheart. It’s particularly lovely, coming from someone like him. But I don’t really listen to it,” Lowden responded.

Amazon MGM has yet to reveal its chosen actor, but the studio confirmed earlier this year that casting director Nina Gold would oversee the search. Interestingly, Gold also works on Slow Horses, in which Lowden plays MI5 agent River Cartwright opposite Oldman’s Jackson Lamb.
Other actors associated with the role include Jacob Elordi (Wuthering Heights), Callum Turner (Eternity), Jack O’Connell (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), and Jack Barton (Heartstopper). More recent reports have placed Lowden, Turner, and Josh O’Connor (Disclosure Day) among performers reportedly involved in the latest screen tests in London.

The speculation surrounding Jack Lowden gathered momentum in August after English presenter and novelist Richard Osman named him as a potential candidate on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast. Oldman, meanwhile, clarified that his earlier suggestion about producers having made their choice was based on a rumor, not inside knowledge.
