Salsa Queen Celia Cruz shook up the music world for much of her career. With such an influential presence in the popular music genre, it would not be surprising to hear that the Walt Disney Company would want to make a biopic about her. Disney and Celia Cruz have been trending together recently, and many people seem to want the facts on this peculiar search.

There are a ton of possibilities for why these two have been linked. Is there a Disney Celiz Cruz movie in production? Has the company already created one? Maybe the AI-generated movie poster internet sensation is to blame. Let’s break down just why Disney and Celia Cruz are a topic of discussion at the moment.

The Queen of Salsa

Celia Cruz, whose full name was Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso, was a renowned Cuban-American singer and one of the most influential figures in the history of salsa music. She was born on October 21, 1925, in Havana, Cuba, and passed away on July 16, 2003, in Fort Lee, New Jersey, USA.

Celia Cruz’s career in music spanned several decades, during which she became known as the “Queen of Salsa.” Her powerful and soulful voice, along with her vibrant and charismatic stage presence, made her an icon of the genre.

She was known for hits like “Quimbara,” “La Vida Es un Carnaval,” and “Bemba Colorá.”

Cruz’s contributions to salsa music and her impact on Latin music and culture are immeasurable. She received numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including several Grammy Awards, and she remains a beloved figure in the world of Latin music. Celia Cruz’s music continues to be celebrated and enjoyed by fans worldwide.

Disney Celia Cruz Movie

While a Disney Celia Cruz movie would be in the realm of reality, the company has never expressed or announced plans to make one. Nevertheless, people have been searching for information about the Salsa singer and the entertainment giant.

In all likelihood, someone has probably shared a movie poster created by an artificial intelligence (AI) image generator such as Bing Image Creator. While Disney Dining has been unable to find where this would have come from, it is often the case lately when obscure links trend together with Disney.

People share these created images on social media platforms like Twitter/X, Reddit, or Facebook. This causes a spike in searches as people seek more information about the falsified movie posters.

Disney’s Ties to Celia

Notably, a 2015 Spanish-language television series called Celia was released under Fox Telecolombia. The telenovela was based on the life of Celia Cruz and produced by a Disney-owned studio.

However, it is important to clarify that Disney did not own Fox Telecolombia then. The Walt Disney Company acquired the studio when it purchased 21st Century Fox in 2019. That brought the series into its possession for a time, but Disney has since sold this company branch to Paramount Global.

Disney does have an animated character in its repertoire named Celia Mae via Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. franchise. However, the search trend often included “Celia Cruz” and “movie,” leaving us to believe this is not what spiked the sudden interest in Disney and Celia.

For now, the idea of a Disney Celia Cruz movie will remain a dream for fans. Perhaps Disney will take on the life of the Queen of Salsa, but for now, this trend has no confirmation.
