Introducing The Disney Dining Blog

A Brief Introduction

I want to take a moment and introduce myself. I’ve been one of the writers for Disney Dining since the site first started. In the weeks to come I am going to be giving dining tips and sharing my experiences with you, in the hopes of making your trip to Walt Disney World more enjoyable.

In 2010 my husband, daughter, and I were lucky enough to move to the Orlando area. It was something that we had talked about doing for a long time and when the opportunity presented itself we jumped at it. On July 1 of last year we moved away because of my husband’s job. It was with heavy hearts that we packed up and left. His job called for frequent trips back to Florida and our daughter and I usually accompanied him. When the company asked him if he would like to move back we did not have to think too hard. Ten months after moving away we made Orlando our home once again.

My family and I are Annual Passholders. It did not take long for the passes to pay for themselves, we spend that much time in the parks. I’m an obsessed Star Wars fan so you can guess my favorite ride. My daughter and I rode the updated Star Tours several times the first day that it opened for previews, we’ve been on it over 160 times since.

One thing that shocked me when we first moved to Florida is just how many dining options there are at Disney. I had no idea that there were so many places to eat! I will try to take some of the confusion out of eating at Disney, plus share some personal experiences. I don’t have a favorite WDW restaurant because they are all so special. I have had many more good dining experiences than bad. I have seen many cast members go above and beyond to make dining a pleasure.

We’re very casual when it comes to visiting the parks. We love to stop by and visit for a couple of hours, several times a week. I am hoping that I will be able to give you an informal firsthand glimpse into my love of Disney. I’ll share experiences that I have that might benefit others in some way. I’ll also try to get you excited about your next visit to Central Florida. Walt Disney World is special, if you didn’t believe that you wouldn’t be reading this right now. I will do my best to help make your next vacation more magical.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
