Review: Hollywood & Vine: Hollywood Studio

Review: Hollywood & Vine: Hollywood Studio

Our Disney vacation culminated in a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Although I’ve done Disney around 16 times or so – I had never experienced Fantasmic. I had eaten at Hollywood & Vine about 3-4 times before so I knew as a buffet, it would have several choices for my family of husband, myself, & 3 teens including picky, newly vegetarian, and somewhat picky.

We had reservations around 3:40pm and although we stood in line a few minutes to get to the hostess, we didn’t wait long at all to be seated. The restaurant did fill up quite a bit however after we were seated.

Our waiter was friendly and pretty good about refilling our drinks. The buffet offered a wonderful Salad bar including regular and Caesar salad, a tomato/buffalo mozzarella salad that I enjoyed,as well as the feta, prosciutto, and artichoke salad. (and others.) Salmon, Chicken, BBQ Ribs, were offered. I liked the Carved Roast ..the Garlic/Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, Green beans. Kids had the Peel-your-own shrimp.

There is a “Kids Buffet” with mac-n-chs, chicken nuggets, and ‘kid friendly’ offerings. The dessert buffet was a “hit” with Soft Serve ice cream and loads of other choices. No one left hungry- we were all satisfied with this buffet.

The waiter gave us a pass to bring to “something Charlies” (it’s like a 50’s gas station) which is on the left side if you go back to the park entrance. Waiter suggested we get there around 8p – 8:30p which was a WONDERFUL suggestion.

We left and did several other attractions, and arrived at the ‘secret entrance’ around 8:15pm. I thought “we must be early” as we walked freely through a back area as if we were employee’s or sneaking in…. When we happened upon the Fantasmic arena ….I was stunned. The place was HUGE AND FILLED and folks still pouring in from standing in a LONG LONG line. And we had just walked in like celebrities. The kids LOVED it.

Fantasmic Arena has it’s own bathroom area, and 2 large concessions as well as booths to purchase lighted paraphernalia and walking vendors. I stood in line FOREVER to get Drinks. I would suggest bringing your drinks, popcorn, whatever into the show. Show was unbelievable, incredible, one daughter had tears of joy.

When we left – we saw the entry to the next show….the line must have been miles long. Boy did we feel like celebrities to have walked right in. The kids were thrilled. Later in the evening….(extra magic hours) ….We saw the line to the “Extra Magic Hour Show”… It was still as long as the other. I vote for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. It worked PERFECTLY for us.
