Haunted Mansion Stretching Room Returns at Magic Kingdom

Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion! When Walt Disney World parks began phased reopenings in July 2020, it was easy to see a few things were missing, including pre-shows. Disney was hard at work ensuring physical distancing wherever possible which meant gathering a bunch of people in a room was a no-go. While we recently saw the return of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, another popular pre-show has made a come back. That’s right, Haunted Mansions’ Stretching Room has returned at Magic Kingdom!

Previously, the Stretching Room was used as a portion of the queue as shown in the picture below. The doors were left open and guests would simply walk right through the Stretching Room to load their doom buggy.

Now, the Stretching Room and Ghost Host narration has returned! “Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination? And consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows and no doors which offers you this chilling challenge: to find a way out! Of course, there’s always my way.”

Not too long ago, Disney said they are reportedly considering removing the hanging scene from Haunted Mansion which would mean a change for the Stretching Room. With this reopening we’re not sure if/when that may still be considered. We’ll keep you posted!

About Mike and Jamie Sylvester

We are Disney nerds. Two kids at heart who love the magic and the memories of Walt Disney World! We follow all things Disney and have great experiences with Disney Vacation Club and RunDisney events in particular. We enjoy the vacations, day trips, weekend getaways and geek out over the planning of such events. From lodging to dining to Fastpasses we have a spreadsheet for every occasion. Mike’s frivolous Disney goal is to acquire a magic band of every style while Jamie’s goal is to experience as many Disney desserts as possible. Usually there isn’t a day that passes without some discussion of the master plan of our next trip to the happiest place on earth. Most people think we’re normal – until they travel to Disney with us. We have been married for 15 years and are blessed with a daughter and a son who have already learned the importance of planning ahead! As a family we thoroughly enjoy the magic and the memories at Walt Disney World and are here to help others experience the magic as well.
