Rides such as “it’s a small world,” Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad have all been entertaining Guests for decades. These attractions are so beloved and well-received that Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park has its own version of each so that Guests on the other side of the country can enjoy them as well.

However, one attraction is as delightful as it is spooky, and it’s a fan-favorite due to its whimsical, lovable doom and gloom. We’re talking about none other than the Haunted Mansion! Easily one of Disney’s most popular attractions, Guests can’t get enough of this scary adventure.

Unfortunately, Disneyland’s version of this ride has closed for refurbishments today (January 30).

Every winter, once the Christmas season begins, Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion (located in New Orleans Square) undergoes a holiday overlay. Every year since the memorable event began in 2001, Jack Skellington and other classic characters from Tim Burton’s classic film Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) take over the attraction, turning it into Haunted Mansion Holiday.

This holiday overlay is well-beloved by Haunted Mansion fans and Nightmare Before Christmas fans alike! But it can’t last forever.

That’s why this classic attraction is closing today: the holiday overlay must be reverted so the Haunted Mansion can return to its original, spooky self. But don’t fret! This holiday overlay is currently scheduled to return in the fall of this year, so fans of Jack Skellington and the citizens of Halloweentown can see them again.

Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is scheduled to reopen on February 10.
