Many repeating Guests love the sense of familiarity that the Parks have. When it comes to Disney’s most popular rides and attractions, fans look forward to experiencing them every time they go to the Parks.
When you think of iconic Disney attractions, the Haunted Mansion will very likely come to mind. This attraction has stolen the hearts of Guests for decades and has established itself as one of the most beloved rides of all time.
For many Guests, a visit to Disney would not be complete without experiencing this ride. Unfortunately, that will not be possible for Guests planning to visit late this summer.

Ride Overlay Means Park Closures
It’s officially over halfway to Halloween and Christmas, and the Disney Parks are already gearing up for the festivities. At Disneyland Resort, this means giving Haunted Mansion a “merry macabre makeover.”
Every year, Disney turns the Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday. The Disney Park ride is transformed and given a Christmas and Halloween time theme based on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. This is a massive highlight for many fans visiting the Parks during the fall and winter months.
When Will the Makeover Take Place?
According to Disney’s website, Disneylands Haunted Mansion Holiday attraction will be opening beginning September 1, 2023. Because of how intricate and massive this overlay is, Imagineers and Cast Members will likely have to close down the Haunted Mansion while they make the shift.
If you are planning a Disneyland Park trip and want to ride the Haunted Mansion, we recommend not waiting until the end of August to do so. As of now, Disney has not announced a closing date.
