Guests Warned: Disney World Permanently Closes Magic Kingdom Location Outside Iconic Resort

The list of permanent changes at Disney World continues to grow. Disney has now confirmed that another location will officially close for good on July 13, creating a new hurdle for guests visiting the resort.

With so many ongoing construction projects and operational updates already underway, this latest move is another one travelers won’t want to overlook.

Disney Is Permanently Closing a Busy Intersection

Beginning July 13, Disney will permanently close the intersection of Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way outside Magic Kingdom.

The intersection is positioned between Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center parking lots, making it one of the more recognizable connections in the area surrounding the park. For years, guests have traveled through this section without giving it much thought, but that will soon change.

Unlike many construction projects around Walt Disney World, this isn’t a temporary closure while crews complete nearby work. Once the intersection closes, it will no longer be part of the area’s traffic flow.

As Disney continues making long-term improvements throughout the resort, projects like this have become more common. While guests often pay the most attention to new rides and entertainment, infrastructure updates like this can have an impact long after construction wraps up.

Why the Location Matters

The intersection sits at a key point between Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center parking lots. Because of its location, it has served as an important connection in one of the busiest areas surrounding Magic Kingdom.

Starting July 13, guests will no longer be able to access that intersection.

Disney has described the closure as permanent rather than part of a temporary construction phase. The change reflects the broader work underway around the Magic Kingdom area as Disney continues to reshape parts of its Florida property.

Many of the resort’s largest projects happen inside the parks, but updates outside the gates often play just as important a role in preparing Walt Disney World for future growth.

Guests Should Expect a Different Experience

Most visitors probably won’t celebrate the news of another infrastructure project, but it’s still worth paying attention to.

Anyone who visits Walt Disney World regularly has likely developed familiar routines while moving around the resort. Permanent changes like this can disrupt those habits, especially near Magic Kingdom, where guest activity remains consistently high year-round.

The closure also arrives during one of Disney World’s busiest travel periods. Families visiting after July 13 should expect updated traffic patterns and remain aware of any signs or instructions provided by Cast Members as they navigate the area.

Unlike a short refurbishment that disappears after a few weeks, this closure represents a permanent adjustment that guests will continue seeing well into the future.

Construction Continues Across Walt Disney World

This latest announcement is only one piece of Disney World’s ongoing transformation.

Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland continues to evolve following the permanent closures of Westward Ho Refreshments and Big Al’s. Those locations have made way for the park’s next chapter as Disney prepares the area for future development.

Meanwhile, another Disney classic is about to enter a new era. Carousel of Progress will close on July 6 for a major reimagining, and Disney has already indicated that guests should expect a different experience when the attraction eventually reopens.

The changes don’t stop there.

Disney continues to work on several new lands and themed areas across Walt Disney World, marking one of the resort’s largest expansion efforts in decades. At the same time, transportation updates and other operational adjustments continue to reshape how guests experience the property from one visit to the next.

Taken together, these projects paint a clear picture of a resort that continues to evolve in nearly every direction.

More Changes Are Still Ahead

The permanent closure of the Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way intersection may not attract the same attention as a brand-new attraction. Still, it represents another meaningful change for guests visiting Magic Kingdom.

With permanent closures, major construction, transportation updates, and park expansions all happening simultaneously, staying informed has become an important part of planning any Walt Disney World vacation.

Disney has made it clear that the resort’s transformation is far from finished. As more projects move forward over the coming months and years, guests should continue expecting familiar areas to look and operate differently than they have in the past.
