Guests Rejoice as EPCOT’s Eyesore Attraction Is Officially Torn Down for Good

During the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, each Disney Park received fancy new nighttime spectaculars to celebrate, as well as other spectaculars in some cases.

However, a few of them were as despised as EPCOT’s Harmonious show. Don’t get us wrong, it’s not that Guests didn’t enjoy the show itself, but the structures put in place to facilitate the show were, by nearly all accounts, an eyesore.

Instead of gazing out at the lagoon to see the other side, the view was blocked mainly by these vast barges. The nature of the barges and their placements ruined the view of the World Showcase lagoon and meant that there was no ‘best spot.’

Unlike Magic Kingdom’s fireworks show and Hollywood Studios’s Fantasmic! show, the audience was watching from nearly all directions, so it was challenging to create a view that worked for everyone.

So fans are rejoicing to hear that the very last of the barges are being removed after months of dismantling.

The show itself was full of familiar Disney songs, fountains, and of course, fireworks. The sounds of classic Disney music sung in different languages was unique and meaningful, and Guests were taken on a tour of worldwide folklore without ever leaving their seats.

Not only that, but Harmonious was the largest nighttime spectacular in Disney history.

The final performance of EPCOT’s Harmonious was held on April 2, and a new show was immediately implemented in its wake (EPCOT Forever).

Harmonious was an interesting experiment, but it’s hard to say whether the Walt Disney Company will erect any barges in the World Showcase lagoon anytime soon.
