What was Disney thinking?
It is no secret that the Disney Parks are wildly successful. Part of the reason they stay so popular is due to all of the new additions they are constantly adding to the Parks. Returning fans are constantly kept entertained by new foods, merchandise, attractions, and decorations that get added to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort on a rolling basis.
However, new theme Park additions are not always successful for the House of Mouse. In fact, sometimes Guests feel upset or shocked by changes made Parkwide. In the case of a new Minnie Mouse statue that was added to a Park, Guests are feeling downright creeped out!
Is Disney Losing Their Touch?
Right now, both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort and in the middle of celebrating the Disney100 anniversary. This vast celebration honors the incredible past 100 years of the Walt Disney Company. For an occasion this big, the Disney theme Parks are pulling out all the stops.
As part of the celebration, Disney has added an assortment of platinum statues of iconic Disney characters throughout the Parks. For the most part, fans have really loved these statues. However, one of the new ones has missed the mark in a massive way.
Unsettling Statue Debuts at Disneyland
Fans are feeling completely “unsettled” by one of the new platinum statues that have been put up in Disneyland Resort. While the specific location has not been confirmed, it seems from the photo that this statue belongs to the newly renovated Toontown in Disneyland Park.
The statue resembles a Minnie Mouse head placed on top of a stem. It resembles a dismembered flower of sorts. Not only is the look of a headless Minnie Mouse creepy, but Minnie’s expression is also totally wrong. Her eyes look very strange because they didn’t add her trademark eyelashes, and her mouth has a creepy grin.
This whole scenario is so strange to see play out. It is mind-boggling to think that this statue was approved by so many people and was actually put in the Park.
