Disneyland Ride Shuttered After Guest Jumped Out, Ran in Front of Moving Train

On April 28, a Disneyland Resort guest jumped out of a moving ride vehicle on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The guest, attempting to retrieve her cell phone, narrowly avoided being struck by the moving vehicles before Disney cast members could stop the ride.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is one of the newest attractions at Disneyland Park, inviting guests on a whimsical and unpredictable journey through the cartoon world with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their friends. The attraction uses trackless ride technology, meaning the vehicles move in unpredictable directions. However, this time, the usual excitement turned into a potential disaster.

According to a report from a Disneyland Resort guest who was on the ride, u/No-Mulberry-485 on Reddit, the woman sitting next to her jumped out of the vehicle after she had lost her phone during the ride. Disney cast members told her they could not retrieve it, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.

“She decided to ride again, slip out of the lap bar just before we entered Daisy’s cha cha class,” the Disney Park guest shared. “She almost got hit by the cars several times and I was terrified she was going to get trapped underneath it trying to get back into the car.”

Thankfully, Disney cast members acted quickly and initiated an emergency stop to prevent the situation from becoming even more dangerous. Security was called to the scene, and the guests aboard the ride were evacuated safely.

“The ride was of course stopped and we were evacuated and security came to get her,” the guest continued. “It was insane!”

Although it’s unclear what happened to the guest who jumped out of the moving vehicle, it’s safe to assume she was banned from Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park for her dangerous actions. Disneyland Resort has strict policies to ensure guest safety, and similar incidents in the past have led to bans from the parks.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway eventually reopened and was operating normally by Tuesday, April 29.

  1. Jumping out of a ride vehicle should result in being removed from the park for the remainder of the day, if not longer. That deliberately dangerous act jeopardized the idiot guest as well as other riders.
