Disneyland Closes California Adventure Area for at Least a Year
Disneyland Resort has announced the closure of a popular guest walkway at Disney California Adventure Park. Starting on Tuesday, April 29, the path between Avengers Campus and Cars Land will be shut down, and it’s expected to remain closed for at least a year, possibly until summer 2026.
This closure is part of the early stages of construction ahead of the DisneylandForward expansion. While the larger DisneylandForward project, including an Avatar (2009) area and a Coco (2017) ride, will take a few years, the immediate construction is focused on expanding Avengers Campus.
The expansion promises to double the size of Avengers Campus and bring two new attractions: Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. Avengers: Infinity Defense will immerse guests in the Multiverse, with experiences in iconic Marvel locations like Wakanda, Asgard, and New York City. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man to guide visitors on a mission to stop the villainous King Thanos, who uses Multiverse technology to hop between different dimensions. Meanwhile, Stark Flight Lab will feature an interactive experience where guests pilot two-person pods through various Marvel cinematic worlds using robotic arm technology.
Disney Park guests might notice some impacts while construction ramps up in the Avengers Campus. On Sunday, theme park journalist Scott Gustin reported that the closure is expected to last for an extended period as crews work on a new restroom facility and other enhancements as part of the ongoing Avengers Campus expansion.
“NEW: The walkway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land at DCA will be closed beginning Tuesday, April 29,” Gustin wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “The walkway is expected to remain closed until next summer while crews build a new restroom facility and other construction continues on the Avengers Campus expansion.”

Guests will still be able to access both Avengers Campus and Cars Land via alternate walkways. Disneyland Resort’s official app provides GPS-driven directions for the best routes around the Disney parks.
