‘Good Morning America’ Shake-Up Sparks Concern Behind the Scenes at ABC
For decades, one network morning show has been a comforting constant in households across the country. But a major shakeup is on the horizon—and it’s creating a buzz that extends far beyond the newsroom.
Good Morning America is marking a huge milestone this year: its 50th anniversary. Since premiering on November 3, 1975, the show has established itself as one of the most trusted names in morning television. Beloved former hosts like Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, and George Stephanopoulos helped shape its legacy, and viewers have remained loyal through countless changes.

But in a bold move, ABC recently announced that Good Morning America will soon leave its longtime Times Square studio behind. After 26 years in the heart of Manhattan, the show is relocating to the Robert A. Iger Building, just two miles away. The move consolidates many of Disney’s media and corporate arms—including ABC News, streaming, and production—under one roof.
What sounds like a practical shift, however, is raising alarms among some inside the building. The new headquarters places Good Morning America uncomfortably close to another high-profile program: Live With Kelly and Mark. That means a very real chance of a run-in between former cohosts Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa, whose working relationship ended on a famously sour note.
According to a report from Page Six:
“According to a source with knowledge, ‘GMA’s’ new set will be just steps away from Ripa’s. The new studios, both located on the basement level of the new Hudson Square headquarters, share a hallway and elevator — making the chances of an awkward encounter a major risk.
‘They will be feet away from each other — he will be able to smell her perfume,’ an ABC insider told The Post. ‘The staff is on tenterhooks. These two do not speak.’”

The studio relocation isn’t happening until this summer, and some at ABC are hoping Michael Strahan’s rumored exit from Good Morning America—reportedly planned for later this year—will ease tensions. Strahan is expected to step away from the show to spend more time with his family, particularly his daughter Isabella, who recently faced a battle with brain cancer.
Still, the move has staffers holding their breath. With tapings scheduled back-to-back and both stars known to exit quickly, ABC insiders say they’re relying on careful scheduling to avoid any surprise hallway encounters.

Do you really think given the difficult time Strahan and his family are dealing with he and Kelly’s relationship is any actual concern of his?
Hopefully Kelly as a Christian will have Christ like behavior. I’m confident it will.
