Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs Unexpectedly Closed Temporarily

The trendiest spot in all of Disney Springs unexpectedly announced just after 5pm on a busy Saturday (January 2), they would be shutting their doors. A simple social media post was made leaving us all with the big question… why the abrupt closure?

 

As shared via Gideon’s Bakehouse Facebook page: “Effective this evening (January 2), Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs will be temporarily closed. Keep your eyes here for news on our reopen, and we welcome you to visit our @eastendmkt location to satisfy your dessert cravings. Thank you!”

The unexpected closure of course prompts the big question… why the abrupt closure?

Keep in mind, Gideon’s Bakehouse announced this was a “soft opening”. As shared in one of their Facebook posts: “As our Christmas gift to you, Gideon’s Bakehouse at @DisneySprings enters soft opening mode on December 23rd at 10 am. The “Official” Grand Opening will happen in the New Year when all of our beautifully branded new Gideon’s boxes and cups arrive and we iron the kinks.”

One the flip side, another post made on their Facebook page stated: “East End Market is Closed on January 1st. Gideon’s at Disney Springs is open 365! Happy New Year, Y’all!” Since the closure, that post has been edited to read “East End Market is Closed on January 1st. Gideon’s at Disney Springs is open today! Happy New Year, Y’all!”

Plus, Gideon’s Bakehouse is still listed on the Walt Disney World website as open as of today, January 3, shown in the screen shot below.

So, of course this leaves room for questioning and rumors. COVID-19 rumors are at the forefront but there have been no indications of this from Gideon’s Bakehouse or Disney. Our thoughts are likely because this was initially a soft opening. We only wish Gideon’s had given some notice of their closure instead of closing their doors in the middle of a busy Saturday.
