‘Full House’ Star John Stamos Creates Magic

It is no secret that Full House (1987) star John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse, is a Disney fan. Stamos is vocal about being a Disney adult and sharing his vast Disney collection. Unique pieces in his collection include the ride vehicle from Dumob the Flying Elephant and Cast Member costumes. During a recent exclusive with PEOPLE, this Disney fan shares how life hasn’t always been so magical.

‘New Path’ Credit to Family

In 2015, Stamos faced a low point when he received a DUI, leading him to enter treatment. A few years later, Stamos married now wife Caitlin McHugh Stamos. Since their marriage, Stamos gives Caitlin and their son Billy credit for keeping him on the path of sobriety.

In his memoir If You Would Have Told Me, coming to stores on October 24, Stamos dives into this tough road and how he has stayed clean over the years. Stamos thanks his family for being his strength:

“They have kept me on this path because going down the road of being sober and taking care of yourself, everybody tries. Everybody does it,” the Full House alum, 60, exclusively tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “You could get going for a little while. Then it’s like, ‘I can drink again.’ So it’s staying on the path is what they mostly do for me.”

New Memoir

If You Would Have Told Me: A Memoir will connect fans to Stamos in an all-new way. The memoir is a “human story,” according to Stamos, full of friendship, love, loss, and the courage to put yourself out there over and over again.

The memoir portrays a man who loves Disney magic but has also realized that sometimes we have to create our magical moments in life.

Candlelight Processional Celebrity Narrator

Stamos continues to show and share his Disney love with others through the Candlelight Processional. Throughout the holiday season at EPCOT, guests can experience the magical retelling of the Christmas story. A massive choir, a 50-piece orchestra, and the unique Voice of Liberty join a celebrity narrator to bring the beautiful story of EPCOT together.

Stamos will again return to EPCOT from December 3 to 5, 2023, as the celebrity narrator for this moving show. Stamos, along with Neil Patrick Harris, are extremely popular. Because of this, guests wanting to experience Stamos during this event should look at a Candlelight Processional Dining Package.

Dining packages opened earlier this week on October 17 through the My Disney Experience app and website. Choose from various dining locations in EPCOT for a great meal and a guaranteed seat to the show.

We are glad to see that this beloved Disney fan continues to do well as he walks down his path of sobriety. May his story help others who are struggling like he did.

Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next… More »
