Woman Faces Felony Charges After Embezzling $140K, Including Disney and Legoland Trips

A former project coordinator from Boynton Beach, Florida, is now facing serious legal consequences after being accused of embezzling nearly $140,000 from her employer. Danielle Frances Regina Palmer, 28, allegedly misused company-issued American Express credit cards for personal expenses, including lavish trips to Disney and Legoland, over an 18-month period.

A Scheme Unravelled

The scheme was uncovered in June 2024, when the company owner discovered a pattern of unauthorized charges. A detailed audit revealed that Palmer had racked up a total of $139,622 in personal expenses, including flights, hotel stays, rideshares, Amazon purchases, and even child support payments. A significant portion of the charges was linked to Palmer’s personal vacations to major entertainment destinations like Disney and Legoland, well-known for attracting families and tourists.

While Palmer initially defended her actions by claiming verbal permission from her employer for personal expenses, company officials contradicted her. Both the office manager and business supervisor stated that the credit cards were strictly for emergencies and any personal charges required prior approval. Further investigation led to subpoenas being issued to vendors such as Disney, Legoland, Airbnb, and Delta Airlines, where Palmer’s name appeared on the receipts for several unauthorized transactions, including theme park tickets and resort accommodations.

What Happens Next?

As the case progressed, Palmer was caught on video admitting to her actions. She was arrested on charges of scheme to defraud over $50,000 and grand theft over $100,000, both first-degree felonies. Palmer is now facing up to 30 years in prison for each charge if convicted.

The embezzlement case highlights the importance of monitoring company finances and ensuring that funds intended for business use are not diverted for personal gain. For those in the entertainment industry, including Disney fans, it serves as a reminder of the ethical practices required to maintain transparency and accountability, even in spaces filled with fun and joy.
